i wish sandy made me a bridge

Back when I was in primary school, I remember the first computer I owned was a Pentium 2. It ran at 266mhz with 32 mb of SD ram, on board graphics and a staggering 64gb of storage. Not to forget a blistering 15inch CRT monitor that was as bulky as the tower. And that piece of machinery cost around 3000. I know, how much it sucks. It sucks hard. Really hard. So hard I dont wanna feel it.
Now days shit is just crazy. One core wasnt enough so they made 2, but two wasnt enough so they made 4. Oh yeah you cant get any better than that. OH WAIT ! you can, thanks to hyper threading you can get yourself 8 cores so yoou can multitask as good as a chick can.
Technology evolves at a rate you couldnt keep up, even if you were usain bolt in the race against evolution, you could never keep up. On one hand this is pretty cool, by 2040 who knows we could be floating and levitating to places thanks to jet packs in our sneakers.
This also sucks though cos when you think you bought the latest tech, next month something even more bad ass will pwn you. Take the intel i5, i7 series. Hyperthreading was badass, creating 8 cores from 4 that shits pretty crazy and you would think you cant get any better. BUT wait 2nd gen i7 cpus now have sandy bridge architect which now incorporates the cpu and gpu into one silicon. this makes shit even faster. and intel have also announced by next year they will have a 3rd gen version that will incorporate ivy bridge which i cant remember exactly what it does but will boost performance overall.
Another crazy piece of tech that just came out is nvidia's tegra 2. which is a dual core processor aimed for smartphones and tablets. its miniature size and low power consumption is a win for both classes. Tegra 2 has just recently been released through motorola with their Atrix phone and Xoom tablet. Although nvidia has already started speculating about tegra 3 which will be a quad core processor that will hit shelves in a years time.
I remember when i had my nokia 3210, that shit was bad arse mono colored lcd that was thick and chunky just like other parts of me. and now, we have dual core phones with specs close to a netbook.

its safe to say, who knows where we will be at within the next couple of decades.
we might even have personally own jetpacks with our names on it.

Autumn Threnody

here's a little creative writing i wrote back in the day, hope you guys enjoy it!
enjoy !

I sat in the empty room by myself. The bartender comes over to me and before I could look up at him he murmurs ‘on the rocks?’ I nod. The television set on the far top corner blasts the news, nothing new, nothing joyful.
‘He’s fucked up again but his looking the other way’
Hitting the bottle will drown out and numb any mistakes and regrets i have made in the last 24 hours.
Should I have done it differently?
Should I have done nothing at all?
Questions that will haunt me for years to come or even a life time. I try to blank my mind, not letting a single thought get into what nimble sanity I had left. This alcohol, this substance of abuse will do the trick. Enough to cure the ache, at least for the next few hours.
‘He’s so fucking far from the person he aspires to be’

I sat in that uncomfortable wooden stool for hours. A soul or two walked in and out for a quick drink. Corporate men dressed in corporate clothing with corporate shirts and ties. What have they done? Have they really achieved that much to be so happy? They laugh amongst each other before dropping their glasses and leaving. I stare at them through my peripheral vision. They continue to laugh as they exit. I envy them, I envy their lives.
The bartender mumbles inaudibly, I nod again.
‘A breaking in spirit, a breaking in promise, a breaking in him...’
I slowly stumble out of that forsaken fortress. I edge at a snail's pace to the train station. I take a seat. 24 minutes till my train arrives. I close my eyes and pray for the 24 minutes to pass by unnoticeably.
Disrupted by a loud group of youths. There indecent language with their indecent behaviour captures everyone’s attention. They walk up to two men dressed in business attire, they exchange words. Words become crude, vulgar. The youth dressed in jeans that slope down to his thighs, checked shirt with tears throughout the sleeves. He swings with a metal bar in his tightly gripped hand.
the man falls to the ground
the youth flees
his friend yells for help
I smile.

‘please take me out of a world without any heart
a world we built to serve out selfish fucking selves’

Lyrics kindly borrowed and humbly appreciated from Boston’s hardcore scene HAVE HEART.

Starcraft + Razer = Blinking lights

Just the other day I purchased one of three razer products specially made for Starcraft 2. Since I do most of my late night gaming on my alienware m17x i thought a full sized keyboard would be of most help.
I purchased this board for about $143AU from computer parts (and yes that is a fair bit for a board).
Well basically, this keyboard is not FULL SIZED. Well it does have the full length qwerty keys BUT the numpads and the directional keys are mashed up. I thought this was a bit silly since this keyboard was intentionally designed for Starcraft 2 gamers. And as someone who plays starcraft you would know some people do use these directional keys to glide through the map. Personally, i do not so this wasnt such a big problem for me.
The keys are all nicely polished with a nice matte feel which is such a delight to push. Responsiveness is good with the 1ms respsonse time that is featured. TWO gold plated USB plugs are required to power this keyboard which is connected via a 7 foot braided cable (standard for gaming periherals). The touch and the feel of the keyboard is quite great, though it does not come with a wrist rest which can be quite uncomfortable for long gaming seshs.
Now to the main feature, the APM lighting system which runs through the entire keys layout. It also lights up under the board on both ends and 4 distinctive lighting on the top and bottom of the board. there are around 16 colors i think. and changes according to your current apms. the lighting also changes for certain circumstances. for example when youre base is under attack, the board will blink red. which is quite cool to look at.
the settings for the colors of lighting can be changed from the razer configurator which is not included in the box. instead a manual with a website directory is included to advise you where to download the utility. i thought this was a bit lame since i have paid a fair bit of money and they couldnt even afford to give me a disc, LIKE LAWL.
all in all this board is alright, the cool thing is that it blinks and shit with mad colors other than that its quite standard. 150$? i should of considered the razer blackwidow mechanical keyboard which is roughly the same price.
i guess this piece of equipment is for die hard starcraft fans but even then i dont think they would think anything of it.

P.S. this is in no way a review, rather just my personal experience and thoughts of such an equipment
